DAY 01

Airport to Sigiriya

Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted by our English-speaking chauffeur from Ceylon Explorer. Your journey begins with a visit to the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. En route, explore the magnificent Dambulla Golden Cave Temple. In the evening, enjoy a thrilling 4×4 safari at Minneriya, Kaudulla, or Hurulu Eco National Park—depending on elephant sightings for the day.

Cave Temple Dambulla

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Dambulla Cave Temple—also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla—is Sri Lanka’s largest and best-preserved cave temple complex. Perched 160 meters above the plains, it houses over 80 caves adorned with ancient Buddhist murals and statues. Located just 72 km north of Kandy, this sacred site stands as a true marvel of heritage and devotion.

Minneriya National Park
Nestled in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, Minneriya National Park is renowned for its seasonal wildlife spectacle—“The Gathering.” Each year, especially in September and October, over 300 majestic elephants congregate near the Minneriya Tank, offering an unforgettable experience. While the forest teems with diverse fauna, this iconic elephant gathering remains its most breathtaking highlight.

DAY 02

Sigiriya to Kandy

Start your day early with a climb up the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, timed perfectly to avoid the midday heat and capture stunning sunrise views—ideal for photography enthusiasts. Return to the hotel for a hearty breakfast before heading to Kandy. Along the way, explore the ancient Nalanda Gedige Temple, stroll through the Matale Spice Garden (visit only), and stop by a Gem Museum and Workshop for a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s sparkling heritage. Visit a vibrant Hindu temple, enjoy a Kandy city tour, and in the evening, witness the graceful Kandyan Cultural Dance Performance, followed by a visit to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa).

Spice Garden, Matale
Step into a fragrant world at the Spice and Herbal Garden, where nature’s pharmacy comes alive. Discover the ancient healing properties of spices and herbs, long treasured by the Pharaohs and Chinese Dynasties. Learn how these natural remedies are used in Ayurvedic treatments and how you can incorporate them into your everyday wellness routine.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress
Often hailed as the Eighth Wonder of the World, Sigiriya rises dramatically 600 feet from the surrounding jungle. This ancient royal citadel, once home to King Kasyapa, features elaborate frescoes, water gardens, and remarkable engineering. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sigiriya remains one of Asia’s best-preserved and most breathtaking historical sites.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), Kandy
Located in the heart of Kandy, this revered Buddhist temple safeguards the tooth relic of Lord Buddha, a symbol of sovereignty and spiritual power in Sri Lanka. Nestled within the royal palace complex of the last Sinhalese kingdom, the temple plays a significant role in both religious and cultural heritage. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it continues to draw pilgrims and travelers from around the globe.

DAY 03

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, begin your day with a scenic visit to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, located just outside Kandy. Renowned for its lush landscapes and diverse collection of over 4,000 plant species—including orchids, medicinal plants, and towering palm avenues—this garden is a haven for nature lovers.

Next, embark on a picturesque journey to Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as “Little England” for its cool climate and colonial charm. En route, pause to admire the stunning Ramboda Falls, a cascading waterfall set amidst misty hills.

Continue your drive through verdant landscapes of rolling hills blanketed with tea plantations, where you’ll stop to explore a working tea factory. Witness the age-old process of Ceylon tea production—from plucking to packaging—and enjoy a fresh cup straight from the source.

Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, enjoy a guided city tour, soaking in the charming ambiance of this highland town, complete with Tudor-style buildings, colorful gardens, and the peaceful shores of Gregory Lake.

DAY 04

Nuwara Eliya to Ella

After breakfast, we began the day with a visit to the serene Gregory Lake and the beautifully maintained Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya – perfect spots to relax and enjoy the cool climate. 🌿🚣‍♂️

At 12:40 PM, we boarded the scenic train to Ella, one of the most picturesque train rides in the world. 🚂🌄 With rolling tea plantations, misty hills, and breathtaking landscapes along the way, it was a truly unforgettable journey.

Upon arriving in Ella, we ended the day with a rewarding hike up Little Adam’s Peak – a gentle climb offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. 🏞️⛰️

DAY 05

Ella to Tissamaharama

After breakfast, we began our journey to Tissamaharama, taking time to explore some of the region’s most remarkable sites along the way.

Our first stop was the famous Nine Arches Bridge in Ella, an architectural masterpiece surrounded by dense forest and tea plantations—a perfect spot to appreciate Sri Lanka’s colonial history and natural charm.

From there, we continued to the stunning Rawana Waterfall, where the sound of cascading water and the misty air created a refreshing pause in our travels.

Next, we visited the Buduruwagala Rock Temple, a hidden gem featuring ancient Buddhist carvings etched into a rock face, offering both cultural depth and a peaceful atmosphere.

By evening, we arrived at Yala National Park and set off on an exciting 4×4 safari. Known as the second largest and most visited national park in Sri Lanka, Yala is home to an incredible variety of wildlife and is uniquely bordered by the Indian Ocean, adding to its dramatic landscape.

DAY 06

Tissamaharama to Mirissa

After breakfast, we set off on a scenic drive to Mirissa. Along the way, we visited the fascinating Snake Farm in Matara, where we learned about a variety of native snake species and their conservation.

We then stopped at Hummanaya Blowhole, the second-largest of its kind in the world, where seawater shoots dramatically into the air through a natural rock formation—an impressive and rare sight.

By evening, we arrived in Mirissa and spent a relaxing time at the beach, unwinding by the ocean and enjoying the tranquil coastal atmosphere.

DAY 07

Mirissa / Bentota /Bentota and visit Sea Turtle Hatchery & Rescue Center and Later visit Galle Dutch Fort

We started the day early at 6:30 AM with an unforgettable whale watching experience from Mirissa, where we had the chance to observe majestic whales and playful dolphins in their natural habitat.

Afterwards, we continued our journey to Galle, making stops along the way to explore the traditional Stilt Fishermen of Koggala, visit the Sea Turtle Hatchery in Koggala to learn about turtle conservation efforts, and take a stroll through the historic Galle Fort Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site brimming with colonial charm.

DAY 08

Mirissa to Galle

The day began early at 6:30 AM with a thrilling whale watching tour from Mirissa, offering an incredible opportunity to witness blue whales and dolphins in their natural habitat.

After returning to the hotel for a short break, we continued our journey to Bentota, where we visited the Sea Turtle Hatchery & Rescue Center. This heartwarming experience gave us a closer look at conservation efforts aimed at protecting endangered sea turtles along Sri Lanka’s coastline.

Later in the day, we explored the historic Galle Dutch Fort. Located in the Bay of Galle on the island’s southwest coast, this remarkable site was originally built by the Portuguese in 1588 and later expanded and fortified by the Dutch starting in 1649. The fort’s cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and ocean views make it a must-see cultural landmark.

We then returned to Mirissa for a relaxing evening at the beach resort, enjoying some leisure time by the ocean. Overnight stay in Mirissa.

DAY 09

Galle to Colombo or Negombo

Wake up to a freshly prepared breakfast at the hotel and take a moment to enjoy your last morning in Sri Lanka. After breakfast, it’s time to check out and bid farewell to the island’s warmth, beauty, and unforgettable experiences.

You will then be transferred to Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo or Negombo, depending on your departure arrangements, for your onward journey back home.

As your adventure comes to a close, we hope you leave with lasting memories and a heart full of Sri Lankan hospitality.
